These dogs learn to live with their problems and if you take proper care inspite of health issues, these dogs can live up to 14 years.
The genetic disease that is found in predominantly white dogs is deafness. Before buying a smooth fox terrier, you have to ask the breeder for OFA, CERF certificates for the dog. If these certifications are provided initially, then it means that your dog has no severe health complications. Later health problems may arise due to infection, trauma, etc. Certain bone joint problems may also be hereditary and if any health issue arises, you have to fact it if you love your pets. The other common problems found with smooth fox terrier are post lens luxation, nasal drip, distichiasis, Legg-Perthes, cataracts, and shoulder dislocation.
If you take proper medical care for smooth fox terrier, you can easily identify the problems earlier and take required medical treatments. When you have a pet, it is highly advisable to take him to a doctor at least twice a year for general checkups.
